Personally, I don't think it's nearly as good as the show before it or after it.

Try this one on for size instead. The last jam in Althea is almost TMNS-like in intensity and a pretty serious Bird Song. Not to mention an actual TMNS, a white hot China-Rider and one of those great post-He's Gone jams that they play in 79-81.

Here are a couple of other shows that I really liked when I was first learning to love the '80s:

Sugaree!

If you don't have the Dick's Picks then you MUST listen to the He's Gone->"Caution" Jam

A nice little hidden gem of sorts. Epic Scarlet-Fire and a sizzling Estimated that goes into an Eyes that even Cliff approves of.

And a few other shows to try after that: 81/05/16, 82/10/10, 83/06/18(the best Morning Dew ever according to Charlie Miller), 85/06/30 Enjoy!

Funny quote from a reviewer on 1981-02-26: "Overall real good. Personally, I think Weir's slide on Red Rooster is noise. All those years trying to play the same damn solo... you'd think he'd eventually be able to do it."

that's a hilarious and obvious point. wtf bob? his incompetence on that solo almost seemed to become the point after a while. roosters are not pretty animals.

I just wanted to say congrats on the new screen name; I like 'midnightcarousel' better than 'GenniBenni' too. :)

Yeah... it was an unfortunate relic from my youth.

Listened to 2/26/81 and it is really nice. The highlights to me were Althea, Bird Song, and the jam out of He's Gone. The majority of the second set was pretty ho-hum to me, though.

I'll revisit DP13 next...
